i went to the symphony last nite. they played this hugely dramatic piece that involved two (count them...TWO) snares, one on either side of the stage, and lots of timpani and brass and generally big sounding stuff like that. one oddly prominent instrument in all this intensity was the triangle. i kept laughing at the dude playing it...he was so obviously dedicated to making that triangle ring out clear and true above the rest of the orchestra. and by gum, what a fabulous job he did.
